Live from the Red Carpet

The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will be held this coming weekend.    I normally watch the show, but will most likely watch something else this year.   Sports events and award shows have become too political and not enjoyable these days.    I do have plans to watch the red carpet arrivals on the E Channel and enjoy dinner at my Oscar themed table.   It's always fun to see the beautiful couture gowns, shoes, hair styles and the fabulous jewels.

I used  Valerie Parr Hill pieces to hold the award statue.  The preserved boxwood wreath is from the Lisa Robertson Collection.

The black crystal flutes are from HomeGoods.

I normally make a tuxedo napkin fold, but decided to go with something more simple this year.  I did use the black bow ties that I made a few years ago as napkin rings.

Overhead view.

The plate stack starts with  faceted mirror chargers.  The white and red stripe dinner plates are from HomeGoods.  I've had the white and gold star salad plates for a few years.

The chargers are from Tuesday Morning.

  1. I have exactly the same plans for watching/not watching, as you do. I enjoy seeing the gowns and celebrities but I don't want to watch the show. However, your table is wonderful! Those mirrored chargers give the sparkle, and I love the red/white striped plates with the starry plates. And of course the extra touches you are so good at - the tuxedo tie napkin rings, the place cards, etc. Enjoy!

  2. A table worthy of an Oscar! The plates are bold and elegant, and the bow ties are perfect.

  3. Wow! Those chargers are really blinged out! Great themed table!! I quit watching those awards shows too - I agree - to much politics involved now.

    1. Thank you Ann! I will enjoy the red carpet arrivals then switch over to Hallmark and watch When Calls the Heart. Too many of the shows have turned in to protest for one thing or another. Hopefully the red carpet will not be that way. If so, I'll hit mute and just enjoy the beauty of arrivals.

  4. Love your Red Carpet table. I have those same blingy chargers. They make quite the statement. Those red plates are stunning. Very cute accessories too. The bow ties are a great addition.

    1. Thank you so much Linda! I remember your pretty blingy chargers. I was so fortunate to find these at Tuesday Morning this past Monday. I really wanted them for my New Years table, but could not find any that were not damaged. I'm sure these will be used several times a year. Dolly Parton must be a distant relative because I love sequins and sparkle. :)

  5. I know exactly what you mean about the politics, so I don't watch any more either:( I love the Hollywood glam you've put together, so fun! Another great tablescape! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen

  6. I agree - the awards shows aren't fun to watch anymore. I do love seeing the gowns later too. I have some of those plates - never enough at Home Goods around here, but I love them. Love your jeweled chargers! If I ever saw those I would snap those up too! I must be related to Dolly also!

    1. I normally enjoy the red carpet arrivals on E, but they were a bit off this year. I lucked out on finding the chargers. I was in Tuesday Morning before Christmas last year and they had a few that were similar, but they were cracked. I was in a few weeks ago searching for a slim tea/bar cart and they had four of these in stock. Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  7. What a fantastic way to celebrate the Oscars. I love movies and the glamour of old Hollywood; the on-goings of today not so much.
