It's Fall Y'all

It's hard to believe today is the first day of Fall!   Living in South Florida we only have a change of season around January when it finally cools down enough to turn off the air and open the windows for a fresh lower humidity breeze.    In North Carolina we enjoyed all four seasons.  This time of year the night air is crisp and the Carolina sky is a brilliant blue during the day.   The leaves are beginning to change at the higher elevations in the mountains and the foothills foliage will follow soon.  When I as a child we always took a Sunday drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway to view the beautiful leaves during their peak.  My Mother would make homemade fried chicken will all the normal picnic trimmings and we would have a fun family day together.

Seeing that it's still very hot here in South Florida I'm not ready to drag out all of the pumpkins yet. I decorated the first day of Fall table in the colors of this beautiful table cloth I found at Walmart a few weeks ago.   I'm sitting here this week with the AC cranked down still wearing my Lilly Pulitzer Summer prints and yes white. (Don't tell my Southern friends. That's a no no after Labor Day).     It may not feel like Fall outdoors, but it's beginning to look that way in the dining area.

First Day of Fall tablescape

First Day of Fall places setting. I found the turquoise plates at Goodwill.   The top plate was purchased at Bealls.  The turquoise goblets are from Dollar Tree.  The tablecloth was purchased at Walmart recently and should be in stock now.

I collect Iris Herringbone carnival glass and I've had this vase for many years.  The goes nice with harvest colors.

Fall tablescape.

Birds eye view of the Fall table.

I found these large acorns at Dollar General two years ago.

I found this check fabric at 1502 Fabrics in Winston-Salem while home this Summer.   I knew it would be perfect for Fall charger plate covers.
The Iris Herringbone carnival glass candle holders match the vase used in the centerpiece.

This is a cross stitch piece was made by my Mother many years ago.  It was in my Grandmother's home for years and now hangs in my dining area.  It reminds me of so many country homes in North Carolina.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Catherine

  2. That's a beautiful fall table! No pumpkins needed yet. I love the aqua with all the other fall tones. (Note, it doesn't feel like fall in N. GA yet either and I'm still wearing capris and sandals! And I think people in FL get a pass and can pretty much wear white any time you wish.) And once again your pretty fabric-covered chargers are the perfect touch. Still waiting on instructions for those!

    1. Thank you Rosie. Yes, I am so happy I ended up with that family heirloom. My Mother was a very talented crafter and so was my Grandmother. My Grandmother quilted a cathedral window quilt that hope to use on a tablescape one day. It's in great shape and packed away. I'm afraid to display it as I want to preserve it for my nephew. Happy Fall!

    1. Thank you so much for following and visiting Deb. I'm new at blogging, but I've been seriously tablescaping for several years now. I think I bored all my friends to death on my Facebook page so I started the blog. I love the Iris Herringbone pattern. My great uncle gave me the cake plate as a wedding gift 35 years ago and I've added pieces over the years. I have four goblets that match, cream & sugar, 2 cups and saucers and a few large serving bowls. I just found the candle holders on Shop Goodwill online a month ago for a steal. I'm going to look for your blog now. Thanks again for the kind comment and follow. :)

    1. Hi Kathryn, Thank you so much and thank you for the feature. I've been dealing with a hurricane and I'm running so far behind on my blog. I will check out the page and thank you again for the feature. We were lucky to have no damage here in Southern FL so now we need to put everything away and wait for the next one.

  17. Catherine, I just wanted to stop in and let you know Sharon (Blue Willow House) had featured this gorgeous tablescape of yours on her blog today. She rounded up several (one of mine too!).
I not only love this tablescape, but I love the name of your blog.I hope to get acquainted with yours better, knowing there will be more tablescapes to be seen. I hope you didn't sustain terrible damage from Matthew. Even though I live in landlocked West Virginia, I know several friends and family in each of the coastal states impacted. It's been a rough week. I hope your week coming is a good one.

    1. Hi Rita, Thank you so much and I will stop by Sharon's page. I've been so busy with hurricane prep and then putting everything away after the non-event here in So. Florida. We were spared this time, but I feel so sorry for everyone all the way up to NC that had damage. Thank you for the heads up and I look forward to seeing your tablescapes too!

  18. I will come back to this place, its huge and open, and have really tall ceilings. Wait staff was also pretty good. Bartender at Chicago venues was awesome and personable. I was really pleased with my party here. Ha! I highly recommend these guys.
