Mother's Day

The Mother's Day table is styled in remembrance of my late Mother and Grandmother's.  I used the beautiful crocheted table cloth my Mom made 35 plus years ago along with her fine crystal.   She was excellent at all types of needle work and crafts.   I found the pretty luncheon plates a couple years ago.   They remind of the dresses my Mom and Grandmother's wore many years ago.  I will enjoy having dinner this Sunday surrounded by lots of fabulous memories of the lovely ladies that I loved dearly.

My Mama Mary Lou, Grandma Dorothy and Grandma Louise

My Mom gave me the Lenox Springtime Splendor Purple Iris teapot set many years ago.  I keep it safely on display in my curio cabinet.

I found the salad plates a couple years ago at a local thrift store.  I loved the vintage look and the lilac background.  The are made by Rosanna.  The pattern is called French Parisian Fashion Models.

I used my Mom's fine crystal on the table.  I wish I knew the name of the pattern.  I know they were part of her wedding crystal and china.    The amethyst glass is part of my collection.

The silver plated antique chair place card holders where purchased at Michael's several years ago.

The Iris is my favorite flower.  Monday was National Iris Day so I decided to use a few iris pieces in my collection.   My Mom and Grandmother's always had a beautiful iris gardens in North Carolina. The painting on the left is one painted in high school art class many, many years ago.

I used a floral napkin with crystal napkin ring.

The plate stack starts with a Catalina Target Home dinner plate. The white plate is unbranded then the Rosanna salad plate.

The beautiful crocheted table cloth made by my Mom.  I believe the pattern is called pineapple.   I remember when she started it and I know it took her a long time to complete.  I used it on the table that held my wedding cake at my wedding reception and I know it's been used at many family bridal and baby showers.  It was well loved by many in her church community and she loaned it to many friends over the years to use at special events.   It's in remarkable shape with no stains or pulls after all these years.   I will pass it on my nephew one day and hopefully it will be front and center at his wedding reception and family events for many years to come.

    1. Thank you so much Linda. I could use a little of your lavender and purple flowers for this one. I'm sure my Mom is watching from above and loves the table. Thank you for hosting DI & DI! I look forward to your post daily and the link party every Sunday.

    1. Thank you Sandra! I treasure this table cloth. She was disabled and took up crocheting as a hobby. She made so many fabulous items over the years and I'm fortunate to have this along with a few other creations. I think she's smiling down from heaven with approval.

  3. What a treasure you have in that tablecloth! It is beautiful, but priceless since your Mother made it. QVC is in nearby West Chester (actually the building is right down the same road where my hubby grew up!!!! I will have to look more closely at people when we go to Longwood:) I also LOVE those sald plates!

    1. Thank you so much Pinky! Yes, the table cloth is a treasure. I will pass it on to my nephew to enjoy one day. I would love to make it up to West Chester one of these days. I work in the private jet charter industry and I've flown clients in the MQS for years to be on QVC and had no idea about the gardens. Lisa Robertson is always posting video chats and pictures of things in the area near her home. Very pretty!

  4. Catherine, I think this is one of my favorites of your tables. To start with, that tablecloth is beyond gorgeous, and what a treasure with so many memories of your mother making and using it. Those salad plates are perfect with the vintage dress styles, and I love the little chairs holding the place cards. May sweet memories of your mother and grandmother surround you as you honor them with this table.

  7. Lovely tablecloth. So special that your mom made it. Am certain it did take a while! Like the openwork that lets you use different color base cloths to match a tablescape? The iris theme is so perfect with those charming "fashion" plates.

    1. Thank you Ani. It is a special table cloth and works great with all types of cloths underneath. I remember using lavender under it for my wedding cake many, many years ago. It's a very special family heirloom.

  8. Seriously GORGEOUS!!! Where do you keep all of your plates? I have some vintage looking pattern plates of the same era and have mine hanging on the wall....or they were in my sewing room, now turned nursery. :) This is one of my favorites not to mention those chair name plates I adore those!!!! I want you for my Secret Santa, I am sure I would be thrilled with what you gave me. The lavender was another impression that just sang out mother's day....love this so much.

    1. Thank you so much Debbie. I have plates stored in every nook in my tiny home. I've had to get creative on storage and probably need to start donating some back to charity. I also have plates hanging on walls in the dining area and kitchen. I think my Mom would have loved the lavender. She wore a lot of purple and lavender. Thank you for your kind comments and I would love to be your secret Santa. :)

    1. Thank you so much Sharon. Mom was always happy to share her items with the family and community. If I still lived in my home town I would probably be sharing it too when needed for special family events. Thanks for hosting Vintage Charm. I'm taking a tablescape break this week. Working on a huge scrapbook for my nephew that is graduating high school in three weeks. Hopefully will have my Memorial Day/Race weekend table up this weekend. Have a lovely weekend.
