Dia de los Muertos

I am addicted to skulls and especially sugar skulls so I love decorating for Dia de los Muertos.   I painted  skull plates a few years ago and continue to add items to my table each year.  It seems sugar skulls are everywhere you look these days so that makes me happy.

The lilac illuminated sugar skull is from Tuesday Morning this season.

Skully McRibs is having lot of fun.

The large sugar skull glass serving dish was purchased at HomeGoods this season.

The sugar skull glassware is from HomeGoods this season.

The sombreros are from Pier One this season.  I'm sure you'll see these again May 5th.
I used a Sharpie to paint the napkin ring skulls last year.  I added the flower petal this season.

The server with a few of my sugar skulls.

Items on the server.

I painted the Dollar Tree mask with Sharpie's a few years ago to use on a wreath.

The bridge and groom was found at Michael's this season.

This lovely lady lights up and is from Orchard Garden Supply.

I used Sharpie's to paint this skull a few years ago.  Still my favorite of all my skulls.

I hand painted white tiles to use as coasters. Once painted I cured them in the oven.

The layers.

The tablecloth was found at Walmart this season.

I added the place mats to provide a break between the large print on the tablecloth and the smaller print on the charger plate covers.

Overhead view of the finished table.

I painted the plates with Sharpie's a few years ago.  The chargers are covered with fabric covers that I made last year.

  1. This is super, super, super cool!!!! I don't see a lot of Dia de los Muertos tablescapes out here in blog land, and it's great to see one that's so on point! I love all the wonderful color and the cool skulls! Home Goods has really seemed to catch on more in recent years and provide more opportunities for beautiful and creative Dia de los Muertos decorating. I'm proud of them for that! The napkin rings you created are TOO cool!!!! You have a great artistic talent!

I'm happy the department stores are offering more product too. Sugar skull are is very popular so it's easy to find things these days. Thank you for stopping by for a visit!

    1. Thank you so much Kathleen! Yes, I have skull overload this year. For some odd reason I L♥VE sugar skulls. I have so many craft ideas on creating new designs running around inside my own skull. Just need to find the time to create new things for next year. Thanks for hosting Vintage Charm!
