Happy Fourth of July

It's time for the fireworks, barbecues, parades and gathering with friends and family.   We are baking here in South Florida so I will be celebrating indoors with the air conditioning pumping.  My dog Cooper is scared to death of fireworks and firecrackers and we both dread what is to come over the next several nights.   I always make sure to be here with him to offer comfort and reassurance that all will okay and the world is not coming to an end.    Each year I make crock pot baby back ribs (recipe link below) for Fourth of July dinner .   They are very easy to make and the crock pot does all the work for me plus keeps the kitchen nice and cool.
MacKenzie-Childs introduced a new line of royal blue & white  plates and accessories a few months ago.  I have the Courtley Check pattern in black & white, but the Royal Check pattern was begging to come live with me.  The plates arrived late last week and I knew they would be perfect for red, white and blue theme.

I placed a patriotic top hat on each dinner plate. These are from Tuesday Morning.

I used a Chinoiserie ginger jar filled with white & blue silk hydrangeas and flags in the center of the table.

A red, white and blue beaded napkin ring from Pier 1 holds the patriotic napkins.

The Uncle Sam  place card holders are actually doggie toys that I purchased at PetSmart last year.

I used patriotic wine charms from Sur La Table.

The firework linen coasters are also from Sur La Table.

The royal blue goblets are a recent purchase from HomeGoods.

The patriotic flatware is from Tuesday Morning.  I noticed it in stock again this year.

Overhead view of the table.

The plate stack starts with a patriotic table cloth.  I used a red charger then the MacKenzie-Childs Royal Check dinner plate.

I love the color of the Royal check so much I may need to purchase the salad plates and maybe the kitchen canisters. You can see the entire collection here

I used a royal blue and white buffalo check table runner on the server.  The patriotic hat serving platter is from Sur La Table several years ago.

I found the North Carolina flag sign at HomeGoods here in South Florida.  Once a Carolina girl, always a Carolina girl.

I added illuminated star icons from the Valerie Parr Hill collection in front of her red quilted glass pedestals and faceted gem hurricanes.  I made the red, white and blue candle rings.

The firecrackers are made out of pool noodles.

Have a Happy Fourth of July!

  4. I think I like your blue and white MKC plates better than the black and white Catherine. They are beautiful as is your whole place setting. You are so talented my friend. Did you get any of Valeries' Christmas in July items? I couldn't resist.....:)
    Have a great weekend.

    1. Hi Kari, I love the blue and white MKC too. I plan on remodeling my NC kitchen using white cabinets and a royal blue island (hopefully topped with white marble if it's in the budget). I have several of the MKC black and white pieces, but may decide to do the Royal Check now. I want to pick up the cannister set next. Yes, I purchased way too many VPH items during her first Christmas in July and this weekend too. She's on again in a hour for her last show in July with all new items. Thank goodness for 6 months easy pay at QVC.

    1. Thank you so much Linda. I know you are a lover of the MCK Courtly Check. I love it too, but this Royal Check is so pretty. Thinking of picking up the cannister set the Royal Check. I'm sorry to hear Dishing It & Digging It will be going away, but hpappy to hear you will continue on with a new party. I will be sure to join as I post new tables. I've been so busy at work my creativity is a bit lacking. I think my brain is just tired. I have picked up so many new plates over the last couple of months so I need to get busy tablescaping. Looking forward to the new link party.
