Lighthouses in Lighthouse Point

This past week I enjoyed a staycation in my beautiful coastal town in South Florida.   The weather in South Florida is brutally hot this time of year, but by the sea we have a nice steady breeze. Lighthouse Point is a small coastal town of 12,000 nestled between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton.   I took a short drive down to Pompano Beach to walk on the beach and search for shells.  While I was walking on the beach near the pier I could see our beautiful Lighthouse to the North.  I decided to drive up A1A for a closer look. It was very relaxing to sit by the inlet to the ocean and watch boats come and go and enjoy a nice cone of ice cream.    Sitting by the lighthouse  inspired me to pull out the lighthouse plates that I purchased a couple years ago and create a coastal tablescape.   I live by the Intracoastal Waterway just North of our lighthouse and see the light each night as the beacon circles the area as a guide for boats.

I had to incorporate my little flamingos in to the tablescape.   I also used little red and white fishing floats as place cards.  The shell napkin rings are ceramic and artisan crafted.  The pineapple urn candle holders were purchased from QVC a few years ago.  They are battery operated.  QVC no longer has them in stock, but Frontgate offers one very similar.  The tall lighthouse in the center was purchased this Summer at TJ Maxx.   The little palm trees are by Fontanini and go with my nativity collection at Christmas. They are perfect for coastal/seascape table designs.

The charger plate covers are made from fabric I found this Summer at Hobby Lobby.

The lighthouse wine charms are perfect for this table.

I found this Cape Hatteras look lighthouse serving platter at Goodwill and knew it would be perfect for a coastal table.
Here's a view from our beautiful lighthouse from the Pompano Beach pier.

A few photos from the Hillsboro Inlet park that overlooks Intracoastal Waterway to the ocean. The drawbridge separates Pompano Beach and the town of Hillsboro Beach.  This stretch of A1A is also known as Hillsboro Mile.   The beach front mansions are amazing.  There is a new 60,000 square foot home just North of the lighthouse called the Le Palais Royal and it is listed for $159 million.

Being a North Carolina girl I had to post a painting of the beautiful lighthouse from our coast.

  1. Great tablescape, love the centerpiece lighthouse and your plates. Your stack really pops with the anchor chargers and red plates. Must be an awesome place to live and see the light from the lighthouse at nights.

    1. Hi Patty Lou,
I plan on making a picture tutorial very soon on the fabric charger covers. They are very easy to make. Just think of a giant shower cap that will pull over your standard charger. I plan on making a set this weekend for my Alabama football table so I will post pictures.

    1. Hi Rosie,
Thank you so much. I hope to make a photo tutorial this weekend if time allows and the tropical storm brewing in the Caribbean does not hit South Florida.

    1. Thank you Darlene. I enjoy our lighthouse here in my town, but the North Carolina lighthouses are the best. Head down to Cape Hatteras and enjoy the sea.

    1. Thank you so much Pattie. I'm happy I found your blog too! You must check out Dollar Tree for cute assorted glassware. I think I have a four set of everything they have offered over the last four years not to mention all the sets I pick up at Home Goods and other sources. My cabinets are full of glasses.

  12. OMG Love this table and the post too. It's my home state and town(s). I spent many a weekend at the beaches down there and holy cow have things changed! (it's been 20 some years since I've been back home). It's so gorgeous and built up. Thanks so much for sharing this. Many a time I spent my friday nights with friends sitting at the little bar that used to be there at Pompano Pier. #Memories

    1. Thank you Christine. This area is amazing and I'm happy it brought back memories of happy times in Pompano Beach/Lighthouse Point. The bar area is now a snack shack on the pier. I've lived here since 1999 and never visited the Pompano pier until this month. Deerfield Beach was always my spot to walk on the beach until now. There is a nice Irish Pub on down the way so you need to check it out the next time you are in town.

  13. Catherine,
This tablescape is one of my favorites! I adore light houses!! For many years, we vacationed at the Jersey Shore and once climbed the Cape May lighthouse and visited the Herefort Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood, N.J. which is a Victorian style house and light house!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  14. Thank you Deb. The Jersey Shore sounds beautiful! I've flown over it a lot, but only visited Atlantic City for work a few times 20 plus years ago. They offer tours at our lighthouse once a month and hopefully I'll make it over one day for a climb.
