Bastille Day

The table this week is decorated in a French theme to celebrate Bastille Day.   Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries/lands to the French National Day, which is celebrated on July 14th each year. In France, it is formally called la Fête nationale. 
The French National Day commemorates the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789 a turning point of the French Revolution as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France.

I love the Eiffel Tower and use several of them in decor around my home.   I visited Paris in May 1999 and purchased several paintings which hang in my living area and bedroom.   


The Eiffel Tower plates are from TJ Maxx many years ago.  I also have a smaller set to use as bread plates.

I found the French/Paris themed charms at Hobby Lobby a couple weeks ago.  I thought they would be perfect to make wine charms. They are part of the Explore Collection by Traditions. 

The Eiffel Tower napkin rings are from Stein Mart several years ago. 



The large Eiffel Tower sits in my living room.  I found this in the garden center at Target many years ago.   I also have one on my patio and love to use tiny white battery operated lights on it.   So pretty at night and sparkles like the real one. 



The small glitter Eiffel Towers are Christmas ornaments from Pier One years ago.     

The Mikasa crystal belonged to my Mom.   The pattern is Park Lane.

    Wonderful Bastille Day tablescape! The Eiffel Tower plates are the perfect addition to the place setting. Everything is French down to the napkin rings. Your table shouts "Long live France"!Hope you will pop over and view Tea in Texas "Patriotic Bear" with the unusual patriotic plates.

    This table is fabulous! And so clever. Every detail is perfect. My favorite thing about the table is the tablecloth(s). It really sets the tone using the colors of the French flag. And the Eiffel Tower accent plates - I am sooooo jealous! And then to have bread/butter plates in that pattern. Oh, my goodness!!

      Thank you Pat and Katie! Thank goodness the all three tablecloths are a thinner cotton blend so they lay flat. It's a fun table to enjoy while having breakfast and dinner. :)

      Thank you Sandra. They are very light weight so they lay really flat once pressed. I did this a few years ago on this table and Cinco de Mayo with the red, white and green. :)

    This post is FABULOUS! I love everything, but particularly that you decorated the entire room in your theme instead of just the table. What a wonderful collection of French themed tableware you have. It was fun to see the overhead version. Love it!
