Colonial Tradewinds

The beautiful Lenox Colonial Tradewind salad plates were the inspiration for this weeks tablescape.   I purchased these a few years ago on sale at Macy's.   They are part of the British Colonial Collection. I mixed in a Tommy Bahama table cloth and my Grandmother's wedding china Bali-Hai by Kent.

The Lenox Colonial Tradewind salad plates are currently on sale at Macy's.  I would love to own this entire china collection. It's stunning in person.

The stack starts with antique gold metal plate rings I purchased a few years ago from Wisteria.   The dinner plate is the Bali-Hai fine china pattern by Kent.  I have the complete china set that belonged to my Grandmother Dorothy.   I wish I knew when she acquired this china.  This was her fine china that she used for all family and holiday gatherings.  Replacements , Ltd. currently has it available.   I found several dinner and other assorted pieces at a local designer thrift store recently.   Of course I had to pick them up and add to the collection.  The top plate is the Lenox salad plate.

The Tommy Bahama Palm Leaf tablecloth was purchased at Home Goods this season.

The layers.

The Rebacraft Bamboo by Reed & Barton  stainless flatware was a gift from my Mom to put in my "Hope Chest" in the late 70's.  Did anyone else have a "Hope Chest" years ago?  I used this flatware for over 20 years.  My Mom gifted me a new set of flatware over 10 years ago.   I could not part with the bamboo flatware and I'm happy I stored it away.  It works nicely with tropical tables.

The napkin rings are rattan with a dark stain.  I used a teal color napkin to bring out the pretty tropical blue color in the tablecloth.

The turquoise champagne flutes look nice with the blues in the plates and tablecloth.  It reminds of the turquoise waters off my coast.

I used a tall ship as the centerpiece to match the one in the salad plate.

I found this fishing trawler model and wooden ship Captain while shopping in one of my hometown antique shops in Lexington, NC this Summer.

  1. I love the way your grandmother's China coordinates with your new salad plates. And, the bamboo flatware is the perfect accent. Once again all the details that you put into your tablescape are amazing.

    1. Thank you Linda! I love my Grandmother's china. When she moved to assisted living she wanted me to have these dishes. I really enjoying bringing them out to use on special occasions and a tablescape or two throughout the year. I believe she would be so happy to know that I'm enjoying their beauty. I'll see you this afternoon on Dishing It & Digging It! Have a lovely Sunday afternoon!

  4. Your lovely tablescape makes me want to extend the summer and its more relaxing times (as opposed to the hectic life that has now ensued since school started up again!) I especially love those chargers, and of course anything from family always holds such great sentiment. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!

    1. Thank you Kathleen! I wish we could extend Summer too! We have the Summer temps here in FL all the way through December, but I like to decorate for Fall so all the tropical Summer items will be packed away very soon. Thank you for hosting Vintage Charm!
