Under the Sea

My inspiration for the table this week started with these cute sea life salad plates I found at Walmart a couple months ago.   I live by the sea here in South Florida, but rarely decorate my home with beach themed items.  My style is more Old World, Mizner Mediterranean decor, but it's fun to gather the few of the "beachy" items I have and mix them in with other pieces during the dog days of Summer.

I added a few wooden tropical fish to the faux coral in the center of the table.    I placed the coral on top of a decorative shell ring.

I purchased the coral print napkins several years ago at Beals.  The beaded red coral napkin rings are from Pier One this season.

The Lilly Pulitzer wine charms were a "gift with purchase" a few weeks ago while shopping at the Lilly Pulitzer store in Boca.

My friend Erin gave me these cute starfish candles a few years ago.   She picked them up on a trip to the British Virgin Islands.

I kept the mercury glass spheres on the server that I used on my last tablescape.   I added the two coral theme plates that I purchased at Home Goods a few years ago along with a couple mercury glass starfish from the Valerie Parr Hill Collection.  The candlesticks are also VPH.   I purchased the two battery operated illuminated mirrored glass red lanterns a couple weeks ago to use at Christmas.  I think they were with the red coral in the plates. They are currently in stock at QVC and come in a variety of colors.  The glass spheres and lanterns are so pretty at night.

The Better Homes and Gardens Melamine Sealife salad plates are from Walmart and purchased this season.

The turquoise wine glasses are from Dollar Tree a couple years ago.   I purchased the aqua Mainstays 48-Piece Flatware Set at Walmart a couple weeks ago.   I'm sure this set will get a lot of use on my future tables.

The plate stack starts with a solid orange woven placemat.  I topped it with the natural open weave placemat.   The turquoise dinner plates were a thrift store purchase.  I topped the dinner the open edge Valerie Parr Hill plates that were from my Mom's collection.   The top plate is the BHG Sealife salad plate.

The Better Homes and Gardens Multi-Stripe tablecloth was also purchased at Walmart last week.   It's currently on sale via their website.

    1. Thank you so much Judy! I have a cousin that lives in PHX and loves it. I'm sure it's hotter out your way than it is here in So. FL. I"m happy to meet another Valerie Parr Hill fan. I love all of her items and I have ordered several new items for my tablescapes and Fall/Christmas decor. It's starting to arrive and I'm ready to decorate for Christmas now. Thank you for stopping by!

  3. I love this one! Those melamine plates are darling, but your coral centerpiece and all the other "beachy" accents really bring it all together.

    1. Thank you so much Joy! It's hard to believe they were a Walmart find. I have a few more plates I purchase there a couple months ago. I have a feeling I'm going to run out of Summer weeks to use them this year so hopefully next Summer. Too many plates and not enough weeks. :)

    1. Thank you so much Christine. I think they are still available on the Walmart website. I put a link in the block that should take you to the page. It's amazing what you can find on the dish isle at Walmart. :)
