Sweethearts Forever XOXO

My Valentine's table celebrates the forever love of my late Mom and Dad.   I was so fortunate to grow up in a loving home with  parents that adored each other more than anything in the world. They were sweethearts forever here on earth and I know they are together again in heaven.

Valentine's Day table.

I think my Mom and Dad would enjoy sitting at this table and having a nice romantic meal.

I mixed fresh pink roses and greenery with faux cream hydrangeas purchased recently at Pier One.   It's difficult to find fresh hydrangeas this time of year and if you do they only last a day. I've had the chinoiserie bowl for many years.

I placed the chinoiserie bowl on top of a large silver scroll base mirror pedestal by Valerie Parr Hill.  They are in stock at QVC.  The white and pink crochet doily belonged to my Grandmother.  The heart shaped candy box is covered with a Lilly Pulitzer print.  I added  ball trim to the edge.

Overhead view of the table.

The plate stack starts with a large white embossed edge charger plate.  The dinner plate is part of my Mom and Dad's wedding china.  The pink heart shaped plates were purchased at Target years ago.

I had a difficult time getting a decent photo of my Mom's fine china.  The pattern is Royal Jackson by Vogue Ceramic Industries. I'm not sure when the pattern was introduced, but I know it's at least 60 years old.

Heart shaped plate purchased at Target several years ago.

I used  my antique salt cellars at each place setting.   I found the antique spoons on a layover in Windsor Locks, CT over 25 years ago.  The spoon portion is a Peruvian coin.   The top of the spoon has a small alpaca.  I used my Mom's everyday crystal goblets. The pattern is  Park Lane by Mikasa.

The heart-shaped frame napkin rings by Valerie Parr Hill are currently on sale at QVC.   I placed a picture of Mom and Dad made on their wedding day inside the frame.

I used a red ribbon rose hand made by my Mom many years ago on the top of each heart shaped plate.

The illuminated faceted gem hurricane by Valerie Parr Hill  sits atop one of her round mirror faceted glass accent piece.  I added her cascading pearl candle ring to the hurricane.  The illuminated hurricane really sparkles at night.

Kari over at Me and My Captain posted these beautiful crystal knife rest recently on her blog.   They really add elegance and sparkle to the table.

I added a decorated sugar cookie on top of a bread plate at each setting.

I used the red cascading pearl candle rings by Valerie Parr Hill on top of her champagne lit candle holder pedestals.  Valerie offers these in so many pretty colors.  They are currently in stock at QVC.  The flameless candles are from the Lisa Robertson Collection.

I added a stain glass flower that I made many, many years ago to a smaller pedestal that matches the one in the centerpiece.  I made this for my Grandmother Dorothy Smith's birthday sometime in the 80's.  I loved "breaking glass".  My glass sander and tools are packed away in storage.  Hopefully  one day I will have a place to make pretty pieces again one day.
The Valentine themed plates were purchased a local thrift stores.  The clear round votive holders are from Z Gallerie.  They have a similar holder in store now.  I added a couple of my favorite candy boxes to each side of the server.

XOXO

Catherine

    1. Thank you so much Jenna. I'm always afraid I'm going to fall off the step stool or drop the iPhone and break my glasses/plates doing the aerial shot.

  2. Catherine, I love that you dedicated this pretty tablescape to your parents, and used your mother's china as part of it. And their pictures! It's so special and a lovely tribute. As usual, you have so many wonderful details that it's impossible to comment on each one, but they all work together to make this a really special table.

  5. This is so lovely. Don't you wish you could invite your mom and dad to sit down at the gorgeous table, and wouldn't they be so proud of their daughter for creating something so personal and beautiful? I sure wish I could do that for my mom and dad. A beautiful tribute.
