Party Like It's 1776

It's time to celebrate Independence Day.   I cannot believe we are half way through 2017.   2017 is flying by way too fast!    Have a safe Fourth and enjoy the holiday with your family and friends.

Independence Day Tablescape

The red, white and blue spray napkin rings and place cards.   The napkin rings were purchased at Pier One last season and they are currently in stock again this year.

I found these cute Uncle Sam dog toys at Petsmart a few weeks ago.   I originally thought I would use them as napkin rings, but changed my mind and decided to use them as place card holders.   The little wooden rocking chairs were purchased at The Country Store in Welcome, NC a few years ago on a visit home.  The toys fit perfectly in the rocking chairs.  I inserted a flag cupcake topper inside Uncle Sam's jacket.

I purchased the Pfaltzgraff American flatware at Tuesday Morning.   They are also available on Amazon

I found this patriotic house at Goodwill a few years ago. It lights up and is very nice at night.

The fireworks centerpiece is made out of pool noodles.  I hand painted the flag on white poster board then glued it to the pool noodles.

The plate stack.   The red charger plates are from AC Moore.  The Catalina Medallion dinner plates are available at Replacements Ltd. The white salad plates are a thrift store find.   The flag plates were found at AC Moore many years ago.

The Isaac Mizrahi patriotic tablecloth is from Home Goods last year.

Happy Fourth!

Flamingo in to Summer

The first day of Summer is this Wednesday.   If you are a fan of Lilly Pulitzer you know it is also National Wear your Lilly Day.   Lilly was a fan of flamingos and so am I.   The Chin Chin Lilly print was the inspiration for the table.

I found the cute flamingo salad plates at the Orchard Supply Hardware in Deerfield Beach, FL.

The large flamingos are also from Orchard Supply Hardware.  I'm always amazed at the unique items they offer.

The flamingo salt and pepper shakers are from Cracker Barrel last Summer.   The flamingo dipping bowls at Home Goods.   They are part of the Cynthia Rowley Collection .   The flamingo wine glasses were found at Marshalls this year.

The stack starts with a fabric covered charger plate.  The pink dinner plate is from Home Goods.   The flamingo salad plates are from Orchard Supply Hardware and were purchased this past week.

The pink peonies are from Trader Joe's.  I wish they would grow in South Florida.   My Grandmother Smith had many bushes at her home in North Carolina.   Their scent is amazing.

The tablecloth started out as a full size sheet from the Country Living Collection.   Last Summer the discontinued sheet sets were sent to a close out store and all the Lilly fans were searching high and low for the sets.   The Ollie's chain store that had the sheets is not located in Florida so I thought I would be out of luck scoring a set.    My cousin that lives in South Carolina found a set at the Ollie's located near her home and shipped them my way.  I was so thankful she took the time out of her busy day to search for the sheets.   I knew they would never see the bed, but would be a tablecloth and pillows.  The pattern is called Chin Chin.

I used green and pink polka dot fabric charger plates covers.

I found these cute drink markers at Target.

The flamingo flag was also found at Orchard Supply Hardware this past weekend.

Father's Day Table

The table this week celebrates my Dad and Grandpa's.   I was in North Carolina last week visiting my Dad and attending my nephew Blaine's high school graduation so I'm posting pictures from last years table. I used special items that were a part of my Dad and Grandpa's lifestyle at each place setting.

This is my Dad's place setting.  He loves playing his bluegrass music and instruments.   He had a white 1963 Ford Thunderbird hardtop.  The one used at his place setting is a Hallmark Christmas ornament convertible.   The Cessna 170 is also a Hallmark ornament.   Dad owned a Cessna 170 back in the 70's and I loved flying with him which inspired me to become a pilot. He also owns a couple red belly Ford tractors.

This is my Grandpa Harley Smith's place setting.   He owned several John Deere farm tractors.   He loved Dalmatians and had a beautiful boy named Patches. I made that stained glass dog years ago for his birthday.   I placed a small toy rifle on top of the plate. He taught me how to shoot when I was a very little girl.   He was also a pipe smoker.

This is my Grandpa Hubert Curry's place setting.   Grandpa Curry was a tobacco farmer and raised beef cattle.   He loved riding in old fashioned wagon trains and had a beautiful team of white mules named Dolly and Molly that he hitched up to his Conestoga wagon every weekend.  He was always dressed in his western style shirts, boots and hat.   I gave him the Western bolo tie that is placed on top of the plate along with the Western collar points.

I added a few other toy tractors to the tablescape and server.

We visited Mt. Airy, NC on my visit home last June and had lunch at the Snappy Lunch.   If you are a fan of the Andy Griffith Show you will remember the Snappy Lunch.   Andy was born and raised in Mt. Airy, NC which is about 1 hour North of my hometown.

This picture was made last week on my visit to North Carolina. My dog Cooper was checking out the party food Dad was enjoying at my nephews graduation party.

Happy Father's Day!
