Masters Par-Tee

The Masters Golf Tournament gets underway at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday. The top PGA golfers will compete for the ultimate win and the honor of wearing the legendary green jacket. I have visited Augusta a few times, but never during Masters week. Attending the Masters is definitely on my bucket list to do one day. Each year I look forward to watching the tournament on TV and enjoying a delicious pimento cheese sandwich with a cold Arnold Palmer.

I found the centrepiece a few months ago at Goodwill. It's a telephone.

I searched high and low for golf themed fabric to cover the charger plates. I finally found it at StitchCraft in Boca Raton.

I painted the coffee mugs using Sharpie's last year.

The napkin rings are made out of ball markers and flat bottle caps I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

I used antique green glass egg cups filled with brown sugar to hold the golf tee and ball.

I purchased the cookbook while on a trip to Augusta in the early 90's. I will enjoy a few glasses of ice cold Arnold Palmer iced tea while watching the tournament.

The dogwood dishes are ceramic and were made by my Mother many years ago.

I enjoyed making the Masters cookies and cupcakes last year. Hopefully I will find time before Saturday to make another batch.

March Madness

March Madness is over and we are down to the final four college teams that will via for the NCAA College Basketball Championship. Being a North Carolina girl I will root for my home team the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. I will be planted in from of the TV Saturday evening watching the four teams as play for the final spot on Monday night. Growing up in N.C. we had four great college basketball teams. Duke, Wake Forest, NC State and UNC were always top teams in the finals over the years. I think it would be really cool if South Carolina and North Carolina play each other for the championship.

I used a huge UNC scarf over a tablecloth. The wine charms are made out of earrings.

I painted the long platter using sharpies and baked. The basketball court is made out of Popsicle sticks and glued down to poster board then lined off like a ball court. The large court was made out of shelf liner and poster board.

Happy 1st Day of Spring

The table this week celebrates the first day of Spring. Living in South Florida it will feel like Summer in a few short weeks. We only enjoy a couple weeks of cool temps and low humidity during the year. I really do miss the change of seasons. In North Carolina the daffodils are blooming, the dogwoods are budding and warmer days are just around the corner. I was able to pick up a bunch of cut daffodils at Trader Joe's this weekend to enjoy for a few days. Hopefully old man Winter is on his way out and everyone will be enjoying Spring like temperatures very soon.

Trader Joe's had a great supply of cut daffodils this past weekend. The aroma is lovely. I purchased the Waterford Crystal vase in Harrods while on a trip to London many years ago.

First day of Spring 2017 tablescape.

The silk daffodil napkin rings were found while on a visit home a few Summers ago. There is a lovely little store in Welcome, North Carolina that offers items handmade by local Seniors. The Senior Country Store offers so many beautiful items and it helps the seniors supplement their income. I cannot wait to see what I will find on my next visit home in June.

The table cloth is mostly pale yellow with green, purple and a touch of pink. I decided to use pink napkins to pull out that pink and really show off the daffodil napkin rings.

The Spring salad plates were found while junkin' for plates in Boca Raton. The are marked as made in Bavaria Germany by Bareuther Waldsassen. The plate below with the yellow iris jumped out at me and I had to add them to my plate collection. The basket weave edge dinner plates were found at Goodwill a few years ago. The white scalloped lace chargers are from Michael's.
