Feelin' Frosty

Living in South Florida I  always look forward to our seasonal cold snaps.   We had a few days and nights over the last three weeks that were a bit nippy, but it was a refreshing change.  I think our lowest temperature here by the water was 37 with a windchill in the low 30's. It felt much colder to me while I was out walking the dog early in the morning.   We both wrapped up like we were living at the North Pole and walked very quickly around the block. It snowed in Northern Florida two weeks ago.   We didn't see any snowflakes here in South Florida so I had to create my own for the table this week.
Feelin' Frosty tablescape.

The Set of 3 Graduated Glistening Trees by Valerie  are currently in stock at QVC.

The snowflake napkin rings are from Hobby Lobby.

I used small snowmen ornaments to make wine charms.

I love how the glistening trees sparkle.

The trees on the server are all part of the Valerie Parr Hill Collection.  I used 5 of the Illuminated Glitter Wax Trees and 3 of the illuminated glistening wax trees. I also added 2 of her Sparkling Diamond Ice Trees.  The white feather boas are from Amazon.

Overhead view of the table.

The plate stack.

I ordered a white faux fur Christmas tree skirt to use as the table cover from Amazon.   The expected arrival date was showing the last week of January.   The item shipped directly from the factory in China so I was feared it would never make in time to use on the table.   I found the snow/icy looking fabric above at Hobby Lobby.  The Christmas tree shirt arrived in time, but I actually liked the sparkle in this fabric more than the faux fur.   I'm going to keep the tree skirt for another use or maybe another table in future.

The fabric charger plates covers were made last year with fabric found at Jo-Ann Fabrics.

The white dinner plates were found at HomeGoods this year.

The snowflake plates are the Gilded Noel pattern from the holiday 2011 collection at Target.

I love this table at night with the lights down low.

The glistening trees are so pretty at night.

    1. Thank you so much Bonnie! I'm enjoying having dinner each night at this one with the lights down low. A little bit of Wintertime here in South Florida.

  2. Beautiful! I remember your snowflake table from last year, those charger covers inspired me to make some myself. (I like your fabric better, though!) those glistening trees are gorgeous and I LOVE the blue ones on the sideboard. I've had enough "real" snow for this winter but I surely enjoy a snowy tablescape.

    1. Thank you Joy. Yes, I used these charger plate covers on a table last January. I thought about using something different for this one, but I loved that fabric so much I decided to go with it again. I know you are ready for the snow to be gone for this year. Hopefully not too much more now, but I remember snow on Easter in North Carolina many years ago. It was a small amount, but it snowed.

  3. Wow that fabric on the table really set this up perfectly! Beautifully done- love the blue, crystal and white mix. I'm up North in the white tundra trying to pretend it's nicer out and your in the Southern warmer climate imagining the cool crisp of winter!

    1. Thank you Liz! I'm sure you are ready for Springtime and much warmer temps. This month has flown by so hopefully the remainder of the Winter will go as quickly and the bulbs will be popping out of the ground and temps warming up. Stay warm!

    1. Thank you Sandra. I miss the snows we had in North Carolina, but after living here in So. FL for almost 20 years I'm not sure how I would handle the extreme cold now. I really do miss the change of seasons. It doesn't happen here in So. FL.

  5. Beautiful !!! Yes, we did have a few cool nights here in SW Florida too...and your table brings back memories from the midwest. I love the tablecloth, it sparkles with snow...as I have seen the real stuff sparkle many times before. Great job as usual.

    1. Thank you so much Kari! It's nice to have a few cold nights here in Florida. It's cool and extremely window over here tonight by the sea. Not a good night for flying. I'm happy I used the fabric I found at Hobby Lobby for the tablecloth. The faux fur didn't have the sparkle.

  6. This is a beautiful wintery setting! I bet it is magical at night, love the icy blues! I've had enough winter this year, I've put my snowy things away in hopes of an early Spring!

    1. Thank you so much Jenna! This will be the last "Winter" tablescape for the season. I do have a table planned for the Winter Olympics so there will be a little more snowy things in a couple of weeks.

  7. Lovely table! Nice way to bring so northern nippiness to S Florida without having to shovel.
Do you have a tutorial about making fabric charger covers on the blog? Such a clever idea and one that I'd like to replicate.
I enjoy your tablescapes immensely. Looking forward to what you do for spring.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Dallas! It's nice to have the snowy feel and not have to shovel snow or clean the ice off the car. I plan on making a picture tutorial on how to make the charger plate covers. It's very easy. Just imagine a huge shower cap. It's just a big circle 2 inches larger than your charger plate with elastic on the edge. Very easy to make by hand or with a machine. Thank you for stopping by and Spring will be here before we know it. :)

I look forward to your tutorial on your fabric charger covers (I'll be one of the people making it by hand; I'm glad it can be done that way!)

    1. Carol, I agree. Our beautiful South Florida plants cannot take the cold temps. It's best to pretend to be in the cold weather indoors in the dinning area for a few days. :)

  12. That table is definitely drool worthy! Even if it weren't om Florida and the temps were below zero, I'd still feel nice and warm. I love the texture you did with this one. Stunning table!
