Autumn Chinoiserie Tablescape

I love blue and white and really enjoy using it on tables year round.  Last Fall I noticed several beautiful blue and white chinoiserie style pumpkins being used in various holiday vignettes.  As soon as the white pumpkins hit the craft stores I picked up several and started painting.   I also painted several smaller white pumpkins and pumpkin shaped plates found at the local dollar stores and Target.   I enjoyed mixing the chinoiserie pumpkins together with pretty Fall colors on this weeks tablescape.

I used illuminated mercury glass pumpkins by Valerie Parr Hill at each place setting.

Chinoiserie pumpkins used as the centerpiece.

I placed the painted pumpkins inside three Harvest Leaft and Berry  candle rings by Valerie Parr Hill.

The tablecloth is made from fabric found at Ballard Designs a couple years ago.  The embossed gold chargers have been in my collection forever.  The blue and white dinner plate is by Catalina Home.  The pumpkin embossed salad plate is from Sur La Table.  The pumpkin salad plate is from Better Homes and Gardens.

I added a small hand painted pumpkin to each place setting.

I considered adding the hand painted pumpkin plates to the top, but decided I liked the mini painted pumpkin better.

The mini white pumpkins are from Dollar Tree.   I used Artist's Loft paint pens found at Michael's to paint all the pumpkins and plates.  I also used various tip sizes of blue Sharpie's to do fine accents.

I found the small white pumpkin plates in the Target deal spot.

The used a Valerie Parr Hill Fall Pumpkin & Magnolia garland with matching candle rings on the server.  I added a gold leaf magnolia garland from the Lisa Robertson Collection.   The ivory Illuminated Carved Pumpkin & Gourd set, and the denim blue Quilted Glass Pillars with Microlights are also from Valerie's collection.

I'm sorry for so many pictures on this post   I loved this table so much it was so hard to choose just a few.

  1. Catherine you are amazing! Painting those white pumpkins really showcase your talent and creativity! I LOVE this tablescape and I don't blame you for so many pictures as I couldn't get enough of them. I kept going back and re-examining them. I may be letting the cat out of the bag but I chose your cotton boll tablescape for my feature of the week on our Celebrate Your Story #154!!! Thanks for sharing and linking up with us.

  2. I wouldn't have been able to choose just a few photos either! This may be my favorite table of yours. Blue and white always appeals to me, and the chinoiserie twist is unexpected but very lovely. Each painted pumpkin is prettier than the last. Thanks for sharing your talent!

    1. Thank you so much Sandra. I've had so many tables over the years, but this has to be in my top 5 favorites. I really hate to take it down tomorrow and put up the Thanksgiving table. I will miss it, but I'll move the pumpkins over to my black and gold chinoiserie credenza in the living room and enjoy them for another week. Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Your Chinoiserie tablescape is gorgeous ! One of my fav combos for a table is just this, blue and white with orange popping out such as those awesome pumpkin centerpiece. Nice place mats too.
    Happy Thanksgiving season.
